I am starting to make an animated series for youtube, but I need to put voices into the animation. I am using Anime Studio Debut by the way. Thank you I would suggest a good condenser mic for voice overs. I would hold out for awhile. Honestly though, if you want quality sound, you need to buy a quality condenser mic. You should get a preamp too, but that is a different conversation.
High quality is not cheap. Anything more than that is overkill. It will do a great job of capturing your voice, and if you need to, you can then run it through Audacity free software to remove any background noise, leaving you with a voice track that's nearly studio quality. Don't let anyone tell you differently, either. The only way anyone would know that it wasn't studio quality is if you were making something like a Blue Ray dvd or something in DTS.
For anything you upload to YouTube assuming you'll be doing that it'll get compressed anyway, so no one will know the difference. I have an entire article on it on one of my Anime Studio training websites, but I can't remember where the article is, and I'm too lazy and in too much of a hury to go looking. You can try searching cartoonlearning. I think the keyword "audio" or "microphone" will pull up the article. The interface provides preamps and phantom power which are both needed for condenser mics to work.
More expensive setup, but you'll get far better results. If your wanting something cheap use your iphone mic I fandub a lot and i use mine in a quiet room and it dosen't come off that bad.

In many cases, you will want more than one microphone so you that you can use the one that fits your situation best.
Shotgun mics are excellent for run-and-gun style videos, vlogging, and sit-down interview-style shots. I strongly recommend getting a desktop-mounted boom arm to pair with any of these mics. USB microphones are definitely the easiest to set up and use, but you are limited in your ability to easily upgrade and expand your audio quality over time. The included tripod works well to keep noise levels down, but it can always be improved by using an external shock mount.
There is a headphone jack with volume control as well as a mix control dial so you can blend computer audio with your voice. It offers great sound quality and a ton of features for the price. There are 3 condenser mic capsules, allowing you to choose from 4 different pickup patterns. It also includes a mute button very useful! The first one Blue Snowball has 2 mic capsules, allowing omnidirectional all directions and cardioid perfect for voice recording pickup patterns, an adjustable-height stand, and a slightly better build quality.
The Snowball iCE has a single cardioid capsule and no height adjustments. You can always add microphone preamps and other equipment down the line as well. I love that the Audio-Technica AT comes with a shock mount. The mic also has an 80Hz high-pass filter that will help eliminate really low sounds like computer fans, heaters, and other ambient noise. The Rode Procaster definitely punches above its price point. It has an internal pop filter to reduce p-pops and an internal shock mount to reduce vibrations and handling noise.
You can also get the Rode PSM1 shock mount to further isolate the mic. I highly recommend the shock mount as the included mount is somewhat weak and made of plastic, plus it will be much easier to adjust the Procaster into the right position.
The easiest way to give it an extra boost is to use the Cloudlifter CL-1 or a separate pre-amp like the DBXsbut I use it straight into a Zoom H5 with the gain set to about 6 without any issues.
You also get a thicker removable windscreen should you need it. Lavalier mics are great because they are small and easy to travel with.
You can always get adapters, but I just wanted you to be aware that the connections vary. Feel free to take a look at our full list of recommended lav mics as well. You get a high-quality lav mic that connects to a digital transmitter and a digital receiver. On a budget? I have used this mic in fairly noisy environments and it barely picked up background sounds.
Highly recommended for those that want a cheaper option. A shotgun mic for YouTube will ideally attach to the shoe on your camera and provide you the flexibility to also use off-camera should you want to use it for interviews or other similar tasks. We have a detailed post highlighting the best on-camera shotgun mics if you want to see more recommendations at different price points.
It improved on the VideoMic Pro no plus with a ton of new and useful features. It also has extremely fine gain control so you can adjust the pickup volume quickly depending on your situation.Skip to main content. PC Microphones. In stock on April 24, FREE Shipping on eligible orders.

Shopbop Designer Fashion Brands.S ound— energy we can hear—travels only so far before it soaks away into the world around us. Until electrical microphones were invented in the late 19th century, there was no satisfactory way to send sounds to other places. You could shout, but that carried your words only a little further.
You couldn't shout in New York City and make yourself heard in London. And you couldn't speak in and have someone listen to what you said a hundred years later! Remarkably, such things are possible today: by converting sound energy into electricity and information we can store, microphones make it possible to send the sounds of our voices, our music, and the noises in our world to other places and other times. How do microphones work? Let's take a closer look! Photo: Above: This Samson Meteorite is a typical studio-grade professional microphone that hooks up to your computer for podcasting or other high-quality audio recording.
Technically, it's a condenser microphone and picks up sound in a cardioid polar pattern. The protective metal grille is meant to reduce wind and pop sounds. Microphones like this turn incoming sound into outgoing electricity. Below: Loudspeakers, like this compact Sony bookshelf model, work the opposite way to microphones, converting incoming electrical energy into outgoing sound.
Microphones look very different from loudspeakers so most people never realize how similar they are. If you've read our article on loudspeakersyou'll already know how microphones work—because they're literally loudspeakers working in reverse! In a loudspeaker, electricity flows into a coil of metal wire wrapped around or in front of a permanent magnet.
The changing pattern of electricity in the coil creates a magnetic field all around it that pushes against the field the permanent magnet creates. This makes the coil move. The coil is attached to a big flat disc called a diaphragm or cone so, as the coil moves, the diaphragm moves too. The moving diaphragm pushes air back and forth into the room and creates sound waves we can hear. Artwork: How a ribbon microphone works. A pair of crimped ribbons of aluminum foil blue are stretched between the pole pieces green above a permanent magnet orange and move back and forth as sound waves hit them, causing an electric current to flow in the cables brown attached to their ends.
The yoke yellow closes and concentrates the magnetic field. All microphones turn sound energy into electrical energy, but there are various different kinds that work in slightly different ways. Dynamic microphones are just ordinary microphones that use diaphragms, magnets, and coils. Condenser microphones work a slightly different way by using a diaphragm to move the metal plates of a capacitor an electric-charge storing device and generate a current that way. Most microphones are omnidirectionalwhich means they pick up sound equally well from any direction.
If you're recording something like a TV news reporter in a noisy environment, or a rare bird tweeting in a distant hedgerow, you're better off using a unidirectional microphone that picks up sound from one specific direction.
Microphones described as cardioid and hypercardioid pick up sounds in a kind of "heart-shaped" that's what cardioid means pattern, gathering more sound from one direction than another. As their name suggests, you can target shotgun microphones so they pick up sounds from a very specific location because they are highly directional. For this to work, we need people who have the means to become paying supporters.
For the month of April we have disabled ads on all E-M content. We need 79 people to reach our goal of 3, active supporters. If we hit that, we'll continue with a new goal in May! Best Microphone For Animation? I don't animate, but I think I might do some crappy voice acting for some people, once I get a good microphone. I have some strong accents, especially Australian and British and I think I might do well.
Response to Best Microphone For Animation? Plug in microphone, attach pop filter, glue acoustic foam to to walls or make a small box out of it be creativeand then plug in your headphones. The headphones can be substituted. The V6s just happen to be the most well known, modestly priced studio monitors you can find. The microphone is also one of the best USB microphones you can find for the price.
I've had the pleasure of using both. The pop filter and acoustic foam can be substituted. If you want it to sound good then you will definitely need them, though. The pop filter will, obviously, stop pops. Please check out our Supporter Upgrade and consider coming aboard! Member since: Oct. Member Level 06 Blank Slate. Member since: Aug.
